Artist-in-Residency Program

Artist in Residency

The Artist-in-Residency (AiR) program fosters cultural exchange by providing multiple opportunities of engagement with and through the creative agency of artists. AiR related projects stimulate campus and the broader community, and enable us to experience the world as seen through the distinctive artistic eye of the socially engaged artist. These projects gives students exposure to working artists, and strengthens programmatic ties among individual departments, programs, and other campus and community arts entities.

Students look at special collections

The exhibition program at the University of Delaware Library includes major exhibitions in the Special Collections main gallery, and smaller exhibits in the Information Area on the first floor of Morris Library and the Lincoln exhibit case. There are also exhibitions of recent publications by University faculty and staff. The Special Collections Department sponsors two major exhibitions each year in the main gallery. These exhibitions, which focus on a variety of subjects, are composed of books, manuscripts, ephemera, and artifacts from Special Collections.

University Museums

Inside of a University museum

The University Museums oversees the University’s collections of art and minerals, as well as three exhibition spaces: Mechanical Hall Gallery, Old College Gallery, and the Mineralogical Museum in Penny Hall. Changing exhibitions feature works and specimens from the collections in addition to objects loaned from collectors and institutions.  Educational programming provides opportunities for individuals and classes to learn about the objects and their broader cultural significance. Beyond exhibitions, the University Museums also provides object study opportunities for hundreds of undergraduate students each year.
